Our Church

When Rev. Fr. G.W Vas was the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church Kulshekar, Mangalore, he thought of constructing a new church at Paldane, Mangalore to cater the spiritual needs of the Catholics of Paldane locality. With the co-operation of the Parishioners of Holy Cross Church and donors, he was able to purchase suitable land of One and a half acre at Paldane and build a church in honour of Blessed Teresa of Kolkata in the year 2006.

Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore issued a Decree on 16th July, 2006 on the feast day of Mount Carmel declaring Paldane Church as an independent Parish with effect from 13th August 2006 and appointed V. Rev. Fr. G.W Vas who was then the Parish Priest of Cordel Parish and Vicar Vara of City Varado to be the First Parish Priest of Paldane Church as he had completed his term of office as Parish Priest at Holy Cross Church Kulshekar, Mangalore. He took charge of Paldane Church on 13th August, 2006. At the time of the Decree, this newly built Parish included 250 Catholic families that were earlier a part of Holy Cross Church Cordel, Kulshekar. As on the year 2014, the Paldane Parish consists of 330 Catholic families containing around 1165 Parishioners.

During these 8 years of its existence, the Parish has grown spiritually, socially and economically. As a result, leadership qualities are found and nurtured among the adults, youth and children. Liturgical services are conducted meaningfully on Sundays and Feast days wherein parishioners take active part and thus enrich their spiritual and social life. Youth and children are given faith formation teachings through Sunday school and other pious associations.

The Church has an active Parish Pastoral Council co-operating with the Parish Priest in all the activities of the Church. The Parish has 10 wards which function actively under the leadership of Gurkaars. The functioning of Small Christian Communities has enabled the people of the wards to live in charity, harmony and other Christian values. It is our earnest desire to build and expand this Parish with a Spirit filled Catholic Community which lives in charity, harmony and goodwill with all sections of society.
